For this project, I decided to model from reference photography. I found images of an abandoned generator on Textures.com (https://www.textures.com/download/machineryheavy0111/118069) and lined them up using 3DEqualizer. This masterscene would allow me to have accurately scaled and aligned cameras, as well as locators, to help me position my shapes. Once I finished modeling, I textured using Substance Painter.
